The program allows qualified undergraduates to accelerate their graduate studies by completing both a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematical Sciences and a Master’s of Science in Industrial Mathematics in an integrated pathway. The program is designed for students seeking advanced training in mathematics, preparing them for careers in mathematical sciences or further academic study.
Admissions Requirements
Eligibility Criteria
- Students are encouraged to apply after having successfully completed at least one of the core requirements for the Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematical Sciences or one of the required courses for the Bachelor’s of Science in Actuarial Mathematics. This includes courses such as MA 3212 - Actuarial Mathematics I, MA 3257/CS 4032 - Numerical Methods for Linear and Nonlinear Systems, MA 3457/CS 4033 - Numerical Methods for Calculus and Differential Equations, MA 3631 - Mathematical Statistics, MA 3823 - Group Theory, MA 3825 - Rings and Fields, MA 3831 - Principles of Real Analysis I, and MA 3832 – Principles of Real Analysis II. Since these courses can be completed at any point when the student has accrued sufficient background, applications can be submitted and reviewed as early as the end of the student's first year.
- Mathematical Sciences and Actuarial Mathematics majors are the ideal fit for the Master's in Industrial Mathematics, but eligibility is open to all STEM majors as long as applicants can show proficiency in upper-level mathematics courses.

Double-Counting Courses
Double-Counting Policy: A student in the Bachelor’s/Master’s Program in Industrial Mathematics can double-count up to four courses for both degrees, where at the most three can be at the undergrad level. Only 4000-level undergraduate courses where the student has received a B-grade or above can be double counted. Only one undergraduate course used to satisfy the Mathematics requirements for the Mathematical Sciences and Actuarial Mathematics majors can be double counted.
Restricted Course Pairs
- Graduate credit for DS 502/MA 543 cannot be earned by students who have received undergraduate credit for DS/MA 4635.
- Graduate credit for MA 510/CS 522 cannot be earned by students who have received undergraduate credit for MA 3257/CS 4032 and MA 3457/CS 4033.
Additional Notes
To graduate, students must complete a capstone experience selected from available options that vary by degree. All requirements of a particular Master’s program must be satisfied in order to receive the degree.
